A big thankyou

Mum, Dad and I would like to thank everypup and kitty and human very much for the kind words about poo-face Salvador. Mum spent a long time with leaky eyes reading all the nice messages you left.

For those who didn't know, Salvador was about 16. Dad adopted him as a homeless kitty when he was about one, and had him for 15 years. It was a hard decision to make but we know it was the right one.

Even though Salvador and I didn't see eye to eye (mostly because he always wanted to kill me!) he was my brother and I miss him a lot. I spent a lot of time yesterday sitting by the front door waiting for him to come home. I have to get used to being a single kitty family now.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about Salvador. Purrs to you, Huffle and hugs to your family. It's been a sad few days in Victoria, hey?

Huffle, we think that it's pretty normal for you to miss your big brother, even if he wasn't particularly nice to you, 'cos he was part of your world for so long. Your Mum and Dad did the right thing by Salvador in looking after him, and it was lovely that they didn't let him suffer. They're going to feel sad, but we hope that in time they'll be able to remember him without tears.

We're sending our purrs and purrayers to you and to your Mum and Dad,

- The Bumpass Hounds

The Last Battle
If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this – the last battle – can’t be won.
You will be sad I understand,
But don’t let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn’t want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please, let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they’ll tend,
Only, stay with me ‘til the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its’ last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don’t grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We’ve been so close – we two – these years,
Don’t let your heart hold any tears.

Huffle, your parents did a wonderful thing in letting Salvador go, and making sure that he didn't have to suffer. It was a great gift that they gave him.

I know that you miss Salvador, Huffle, but your Mom and Dad did the best thing for him.

A brother is a brother.... when all is said and done.
I wish I could come hang out with you and help you through this. And I'd love to poke your mum and dad in the butts and yell "HA ROO ROO ROO!" at them and get them to chase me. That always puts a smile on the faces around here.
Play bows,

Dear Huffle, I miss my kitty brother too. I'd know him all my life, since I was 5 weeks old. We weren't exactly "friends". but I know that secretly, he loved having to wonder if I'd chase him around, and wapping me in the face. I do miss his purring.
Give your people extra snuggles & purrs.
Woo will see Salvador again one day.

Maybe in time, your Dad will find another homeless little kitty who needs you for a family. Do you think that might happen?

It's strange how you two were closer than it appeared, huh, Huffle? I'm sure sorry there's a Poo-Face shaped empty spot around the house now. I'm sendin' you lots of purrs, hon.

Even though I'm sorry about Salvador, I think you'll like being a one-kitty household. Those were the good ole' days for me!

Hi Huffle,

I agree with the Washington Woos! You'll probably like being the queen of the castle. It might just take a little bit of time.
