A Week of Sleeping, Part 1

Last week, my friend Wilbur did a very good post about his sleeping positions. It was very interesting and it made me think about the various places I sleep in during the day, I mean at night.

This is one my newest spots to sleep in, right behind dad's chair at his computer. It's a very sunny spot and keeps me nice and toasty. It means dad can't move from his chair in case he runs me over (he did run over my tail once, I had to yell at him for that) but really, since it's all about me, I don't think that matters.

My new look

Mum has been helping me play around with my blog look. What do you think? I kinda like it, but there has been one disaster with this. Mum forgot to save my list of friends!

So, my friends list is slowly being updated (see that tab up there?) but I'll have to add you all back one by one as you leave a comment. Sorry about that!

Mums are a bit hopeless sometimes. I'm just sayin'...

The new red chair

Mum and dad bought a new red chair for the bedroom. I don't know if I like it yet. I am sitting on it for this photo but then I went and sat on the bed to contemplate the new red chair. It does have my possum rug on it so it is toasty but I'm just not sure...

Awards!

My friend Ginger Jasper (who is Ben the Rotti's cousin) gave me this lovely award!

The rules for the award say I have to post the award on my blog, add the link to the award, then:

1. Pass it on to furries that do the hidey.

2. Share it with woofies that are good friends & protect us all.

So I'm going to pass this on to every SMS member who is a member of the In the Closet Gang (you know who you are), but especially to Queen Meeshka because she is our leader (therefore a good friend who protects us all) and to Tubey, for his presidential campaign last year.

My best friend Zimmie gave me this award during the week too! It's the Your Blog is Fabulous award.
Thanks Zimmie - you are the best friend a cat could ever have! I would like to give this award to everycat and everypup who comments on my blog today. Enjoy!

My garden

When I first adopted mum dad, three and a bit years ago, we had a nice garden with green grass (yummy!) and small trees and some flowers. It does not look anything like that now. Dad says we are having some men come in to give us a new garden which does not require much water. That's probably a good thing.

Huffle's trip to the v-e-t, part II

**Warning: graphic pictures ahead! Not for the faint hearted**

So after mum and dad tricked me into going in the car and getting to the v-e-t, I was left on the table to fend for myself. The v-e-t told dad to hold on to me so he could take my temperature.
Take my what????
Then, not happy with just poking something into a spot that should never have something poked into it, the evil v-e-t stabbed me! Warning: kitties under one year should not look at this picture.
I refused to look at the camera after that vicious attack.
And to top it all off, the v-e-t stuck this big tube down my throat to give me a worming tablet! Dad wasn't even distressed at this treatment of me - you can see him laughing in the top corner of this picture. And look how they have me pinned down!
My Friday night was not very much fun. I hope I don't have to go back to the v-e-t again in a hurry. Dad says I got a clean bill of health and now I don't have to go back for a whole year.

Dad also says on the way back from the v-e-t I was much more relaxed and just settled down on his lap. Well of course; I knew I was going home.

I didn't feel too good after my trip to the v-e-t so I got in my purple Huffle bed and slept all night.

The end.

Huffle's trip to the v-e-t, part I

Friday night, mum and dad came home from work and started calling me and calling me. I came downstairs to see what all the fuss was about. I thought maybe they had some ham for me. But NO! Dad grabbed me and wrapped me in a towel, then we all got in the car!
Because I am an explorer cat, I was very interested in what was going on. I had to meow and huff at the big bus we passed; I didn't think very much of the bus. Dad says I was much better behaved sitting on his lap than I have been when I am in my carrier; I don't like that carrier at all. I only peed a little bit on my towel.

When we got the v-e-t and I realised where I was, I was not a happy kitty.
This is dad holding on to me in the v-e-t surgery. I really wanted to run away.
Dad put me on the table for the v-e-t to look at me and I did a big poo! Right there on the table! I was pretty happy with myself, but mum and dad were not impressed. The v-e-t just laughed and cleaned it up.

Tune in on Thursday for part 2 of my visit to the v-e-t. But be warned, there will be some pretty graphic pictures of my torture.

Award

My dear friend Fin gave me this lovely Life is Grand award, which was very kind of her.

The Life Is Grand Award has the following rules, tell 5 reasons why you think life is grand and then pass it on to 5 more blogs.

Okay here are my reasons for a grand life:
  1. My friends are the best, especially my best friend Zim and my BFF Tia, and my boyfriendcat MrSippi
  2. Mum and dad spoil me rotten
  3. I have so many toys to choose from
  4. Mum lets me get under the doona when I am cold
  5. I get a whole can of Fancy Feast all to myself every single night
So, five friends to share this with... Zim, Ammy, Davy and Storms of the Army of Four, Poppy Q, and Tia, Sitka and Cornelia Marie. That's eight friends but I don't think anyone will mind.

Honestly...

My new friend Dinah gave me the Honest Scrap Award! And so did some more new friends, Ash and Pinky!

Here are the rules:

"When accepting this auspicious award, you must write a post bragging about it, including the name of the misguided soul who thinks you deserve such acclaim, and link back to said person so everyone knows who he or she is. Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design. Or improvise by including ones who have no idea who you are because you don’t have 7 friends. Show the 7 random victims’ names and links and leave a harassing comment informing them that they were prized with ‘Honest Weblog.’ Well, there’s no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon. List at least ten honest things about yourself. Then, pass it on!"

Okay, here are 10 honest things about me.
  1. I do not like fish.
  2. I have two grey furs. Please do not tell anyone.
  3. I have never climbed a tree but I have climbed the fence.
  4. I fell off the bed once.
  5. I can woof like a puppy.
  6. My favourite place to sleep is under the doona between mum and dad.
  7. I hide under the bed in the spare room when there is thunder.
  8. I take my food out of my bowl and put it on the floor to eat, sometimes.
  9. I bare my teeth at dad when he annoys me, but I don't make any noise.
  10. I refuse to stand on the red rug in the bedroom because it looks suspicious.
I don't know who else has already been tagged for this so if you want to play along, please do! Leave me a comment so I can see your 10 honest things.

Working Hard

Last weekend, the neighbours across the road were having a party. I had to go out on my balcony and snoopervise the preparations. Obviously, the best way to do that is upside down.

What's that over there?

When I was sitting in my sunbeam on the stairs the other day, mum started chasing me with the flashy beast. But luckily I remembered my lessons from the Stormy Zoluschka School of Siberian Studies so I turned my back on mum and the flashy beast.

Mum kept asking me what I was looking at but I didn't tell her!

Giant Huffle

I wonder if ants are scared of me... they'd see me from this perspective wouldn't they!

Also, my friend Mickey gave me an award!
Thanks Mickey!

What happened on the weekend

On Friday night I was outside hanging out in my parsley pot when something started chirping at me. It was a cicada! Under my pot! And it was yelling at me!

These are cicadas. They are very noisy.

I ran inside to get dad to help me get at the cicada but I don't think he understood what I wanted. He kept asking me what was wrong but he didn't come outside to help me. So I went back out and yelled at the cicada a bit more but it didn't go away.

I went back inside and told dad to come out and help me (again) but he just sat there. Eventually mum said she thought I wanted dad to come outside with me so he finally did. He got the cicada out from under my parsley pot and I killed it, because I am Huffle the Mighty Hunter!

Then I could sit in my parsley pot in peace.

Every part of this story is true except the bit where I killed the cicada. Dad did that.

Missed anniversary

While mum and dad were away, I missed my one year blogaversary! It was on March 4. I have had such a good time blogging for the past year; I hope I can keep it up for lots more years!

Hopefully next time an important date like that rolls around, mum and dad are here to help me celebrate.

My awesome present

I know you have all been holding your breath, waiting to find out what my awesome present from New Zealand is. Well, have a good look at this picture and see if you can figure it out.
That's right - they bought me my very own fur rug! It's made of possum fur and is super toasty warm. Possums are a pest in this part of the world so it's good to do something with their furs. I'm sure my friend Tubey would approve of using stupid nopossums (as he calls them) in this way.

Friday Awards

While mum and dad were away and I couldn't visit my friends' blogs because grandma doesn't know how to help me blog, I discovered that I have received a few awards!

I got this one from Grrreta and Ambrose a few days ago:
This is the quote that goes with the award:
This blog invests and believes the PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships! These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award. You should/could give it to eight more - or just enjoy it.

I'm going to pass this one on to:

My new pals Joey and Zeke, Jeter Harris and Ginger Jasper.

I also received this award:
but I'm not allowed to tell you who it's from, as the condition of accepting the award is that it must be anonymous! So I will pass this on to Boru, Alex and Jenny of the Bumpass Hounds, and the Forever Foster kitties. You can pass it on to whomever you choose, but you aren't allowed to mention where you got it from. Complicated, I know.

Remember the competition I entered - Mason Dixie's blog design competition? Well, I didn't win but I had a good showing. Thanks to everypup and kitty who voted for me. I did get this very nice award though!

And this last award is from Thomas, Phoebe and Trixie. The rules say you have to list six things that make you happy.

Here is my list:
  1. Ham - but only the really good stuff.
  2. My brand new present that I got from mum and dad's trip to New Zealand - which I will tell you about tomorrow.
  3. My boyfriendcat MrSippi.
  4. My best friend Zim.
  5. My toy mouses.
  6. Being toasty.
Thanks to all my friends who have shared things with me! Tune in tomorrow to see what the awesome present from New Zealand was.

I'm back!

Hi every pup and kitty and hamster! I'm back to my blog! Mum and dad came home last night so I am very happy. They bought me the most awesome present EVER but I don't have a photo yet so I'll show it to you soon.

I had a good time with grandma and grandpa looking after me, they even bought me some special ham and let me have a little bit every other day. It was pretty good. I let grandpa rub my belly (no-one else is allowed to touch my belly, not even dad) and I sat on grandma's lap every afternoon for half an hour. I didn't want her to feel like I didn't appreciate her coming to look after me, you see.

I've missed all my friends so much; I'll spend the next few days catching up with you all!

Taking a break

Today, at the crack of dawn, mum and dad left on their holiday. I am all alone! Well, not really, since grandma and grandpa are coming to look after me, but still, I will spend the days by myself.

Please don't forget me! I'll be back in about 10 days. I'm leaving you with this picture of me, so you don't forget what I look like.
