Thursday Things

My friends Stella and Ali Z (and their mum Jo) tagged me and Dad to do this question and answer session.

Huffle: Black, little, brave, explorer, hungry, playful, friendly
Dad: Old, grumpy, smart, funny, I can't think of any more

2. What keeps you up at night?
Huffle: Sardinie
Dad: Huffle and sardinie

3. Who would you like to be?
Huffle: Nobody, I am happy being me!
Dad: Me too!

4. What are you wearing right now?
Huffle: My green paisley collar
Dad: Jeans and a shirt

5. What scares you?
Huffle: Teddy
Dad: Spiders

6. What are the best and worst things about blogging?
Huffle: Meeting so many new friends, losing friends over the Rainbow Bridge
Dad: Um, I don't do the blog, Huffle's mum helps her with that.

7. What was the last website you visited?
Huffle: http://theminnesotagirls.blogspot.com
Dad: www.theage.com.au

8. What is one thing you'd change about yourself?
Huffle: Nothing!
Dad: I would like to be more patient

9. Slankets - yes or no?

Tagged!

My fluffy friends Inigo Flufflebum and D'Artangan Rumblepurr have tagged me to give seven reasons why I am awesome, and then tag seven others to play. Thanks for saying I am awesome, kitties! I don't think I am, but maybe that's just me.

I am awesome because:
  1. I know when it is bed time in our house and I will stand on the cords from dad's computer so he has to pack up and go to bed.
  2. I get ham as a special snack, and I only like the expensive triple smoked stuff.
  3. I have a brand new backyard with lots of tasty plants in it.
  4. Even though I have my suspicions about my parsley pot, I have not given up the search for it.
  5. I have awesome friends (including the awesomest bestest friend ever, Zimmie!).
  6. I keep the house safe from cicadas.
  7. My dad says I am awesome, so it must be true.
If you are commenting on my blog you must be awesome so you should play this game too!

10 things about my dad

Just before mum and dad went on holidays, my friend Freya tagged me to play the Facts about the People game. Either (1) post 7 facts about yourself AND photos OR (2) post 10 facts about yourself with no photos, OR (3) post a childhood picture of yourself. Mum already played this a little while back so I am making dad answer the hard questions today. Here are 10 not very exciting facts about my dad:
  1. He was born in the country about three hours drive away from Melbourne, and has lived in the city since he was 17.
  2. He is 259 in dog years.
  3. He lived in Mexico for three months when he was a younger puppy.
  4. Dad's favourite game to play with me is Red Dot.
  5. He builds model railways.
  6. Dad eats more ham than I do.
  7. Dad has always owned cats in his life.
  8. He is a computer nerd and plays games on his giant computer at home (mum and I don't let him near our iMac).
  9. He cannot cook to save his life.
  10. Courtesy of Opy and Benson J Puppypaw's dad, he got to drive race cars really fast this year and he was very excited about it.
Here is a picture of dad from his recent holiday with mum to Broome.
Broome 21
Zim, check out the t-shirt he is wearing! If anyone else would like to play this game, please go ahead.

But not me... mum was tagged by Fin's mum to play this game. The rules are:

Either (1) post 7 facts about yourself AND photos OR (2) post 10 facts about yourself with no photos, OR (3) post a childhood picture of yourself.

We don't have a scanner at home so mum says she can't show you a childish picture of her. So go ahead mum, tell everyone about yourself.

Okay here's my list of 10 things!
  1. I was born in Melbourne Australia and have lived here all my life, but I have travelled to a lot of places.
  2. I used to wear glasses and was quite blind but I had laser eye surgery two years ago and now have perfect vision.
  3. I work for the Victorian government, in the area of catchment management.
  4. I started out my working life as a librarian.
  5. I don't have any children - Huffle's dad and I are happy with Huffle and she demands enough of our attention.
  6. I am petrified of spiders, and have been known to leave the house if no-one else is home to kill them.
  7. I am addicted to buying shoes.
  8. My favourite book is Catch 22 by Joseph Heller.
  9. Before Huffle, I had never owned a cat, only dogs.
  10. Helping Huffle to blog has made me some great friends around the world, some of whom I've been lucky enough to meet in person!
Now, Huffle thinks we should tag the following mums:

Batu Khan's mum
Domi the Therapy Dog's mum
Ginger Jasper's mum
The Island Cats' mum
Poppy Q's mum

Tagged

My lovely friend Millie tagged me to play the sixth photo game last week. Since I just played this recently, I am going to cheat a bit for this version.

The rules are:
Open your photos folder and select the 6th folder. Then select the 6th photo in that folder and post that photo along with the story behind the photo on your blog. Then tag 5 friends.

Normally I would look in the Finder and go to the sixth folder and then get the sixth photo, but this time I used the iPhoto collections and used the sixth photo in the sixth collection there.

So this is what I came up with. It's a photo mum took a few months ago of a walnut farm in north east Victoria. She says it was very cold but nice and sunny.
I suppose it's a nice enough photo but since it's not of me I don't think it's that interesting. If any other kitty or pup would like to play this game, please go ahead.

My lovely floofy friend Cheyenne Millie tagged me last week to play this game. The rules are:

* Tag and link back to the person who tagged you.
* List 6 (un)important things that make you happy.
* Tag 6 bloggers and let them know they’re “it”.

So six things that make me happy are...
  1. Ham. I love ham.
  2. My kitty wubba that Zim sent me. I love to play with it at 3am.
  3. Being toasty. 'Nuff said.
  4. Having mum at home so I can sit on her lap.
  5. Having dad at home so I can annoy him and beg for food. He always gives in.
  6. Sleeping. I LOVE to sleep!
Those are my six things, there are plenty more I could add to the list though! Any pup or kitty who wants to play, please go ahead.

Tagged!

My dear friend Ginger Jasper tagged me during the week to play the game of things I have never bought. Since I have never been shopping, I am going to make mum do this meme. I make her buy all my food and toys anyway, and she knows her way around a shop, let me tell you.

Okay mum, tell them what you've never bought.
  1. Ugg boots.
  2. Liver.
  3. A goldfish.
  4. A cat, until I bought Huffle Mawson for her dad as a Christmas present.
  5. Okra. I see it in the shop but I have no idea what to do with it.
  6. Oysters.
  7. A pen. I get them all from work!
Okay I hope that's enough on the list. Mum says she would like to tag some more mums, as she's pretty sure they do the shopping for the cats and dogs who are my friends. So we're tagging:

The Army of Four's mum
The OP Pack's mum
Meeshka's Human Woman

Tagged!

But it wasn't me that got tagged - it was Mum! She was tagged by the Army of Four's mum to play the 40 things about me game. She is a bit hopeless which is why it's taken so long. But I finally got the answers out of her, so here are 40 things you probably didn't need to know about my mum.
  1. She was born in Melbourne, Australia, and has lived here ever since.
  2. She went to Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University for a degree in Information Management and Library Studies.
  3. This means she is really a nerdy librarian.
  4. Mum worked as a librarian for six years after uni, but not since then.
  5. Mum has had a lot of marketing and event management jobs in her life.
  6. Mum had never owned a cat before I came along.
  7. Mum's first dog, Buffy, was a Standard Poodle mix something, and she used to dress him up in her doll's clothes, and sleep in his bed with him. He never complained about this treatment.
  8. Mum has been to Singapore, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Yemen, Greece, England, Poland, the USA, Canada, Vanuatu, Fiji, New Caledonia, the Cook Islands, and she is going to New Zealand in March.
Wait a second, I didn't know anything about this!
  9. Mum and dad met on a blind date, and have been together ever since.
  10. Mum is a very good cook.
  11. Mum does not cook for me; this is not fair as far as I'm concerned.
  12. Mum had laser eye surgery in 2007, and now has perfect vision.
  13. Mum cannot sew to save her life. It's true. She can't even put a hem up.
  14. Mum is quite a good photographer.
  15. Mum saw real live polar bears in the wild last year, and says it was the most amazing thing she has ever seen.
  16. Mum's family is all Polish.
  17. Mum went to Polish School when she was little but doesn't remember much of it. She can still count to 10 though.
  18. Mum has a serious addiction to shoes. She has 93 pairs.
  19. Mum played tennis three times a week when she was younger.
  20. Mum now suffers from tennis elbow, or RSI.
  21. Mum had a stroke when she was 22. She is fully recovered these days.
  22. Mum learned Japanese for five years at high school, but remembers even less Japanese than Polish. She can still count to 10 in Japanese though.
  23. Mum thinks 40 facts about her is a lot; isn't everyone bored yet?
  24. Mum has one sister who is 18 months younger than she is.
  25. Mum has blonde hair and green eyes; her sister has brown eyes and brown hair.
  26. Mum has never broken a bone or had a filling in her teeth.
  27. Mum used to play netball when she was a puppy, now she just does some walking. Something about a bad knee...
  28. Mum switched from a PC to a Mac at home last year and thinks it is marvellous. I find it pretty good for my Huffle blogging too.
  29. Mum's least favourite type of housework is ironing.
  30. Mum can remember the phone number of every house she's ever lived in. She can't remember what to buy at the supermarket each week though - she needs a list.
  31. Mum is not a coffee drinker but dad makes her a coffee in bed every Saturday and Sunday morning and she really appreciates it, and drinks the coffee happily.
  32. Mum works for the Victorian State Government, in catchment management. This means she worries about water for all of us.
  33. Mum's favourite book ever is Catch 22, by Joseph Heller.
  34. Mum is allergic to peanuts - they cause her migraines.
  35. Mum is also allergic to salt.
  36. Mum has met a lot of people in her various jobs, and counts a former Premier of Victoria among her friends.
  37. Mum travels around the state a lot for her job.
  38. Mum's favourite colour is purple.
  39. Mum is very accident prone, and has fallen down the stairs at home, and at work.
  40. Mum is ecstatic we made it to the end of the list.

This is mum at Mount St Helens in October last year.

Now we're going to tag:
Khyra's mum
Star and Jack-a-Roo's mum
The OP Pack's mum

Tagged!

The Army of Four tagged me in the picture memo game! Here are the rules:

Open a document or file folder,
click on the fifth folder
and then the fifth photo.
Post the photo and describe it.
Then tag 5 other bloggers.

Stormy said that my mum takes incredible photos. Well of course, she has me as a model! BUT the fifth folder and the fifth picture turned out to be this:
These are the sea lions that have taken up residence at Pier 39 in San Francisco. They arrived there after a small earthquake a few years ago, and have never left. The city lets them stay too. If you click on the picture you can see a bigger version.

So who to tag? Here's my list:

Tia, Sitka and Cornelia Marie
Sweet Praline
Star and Jack-a-Roo
Wilbur, Steve and Kat
The Painter Pack

Only because I'm a black cat, I'm not going to tell them, they're gonna have to read my blog to find out they've been tagged!

Tagged!

I have been tagged by the prettiest Husky in the world (Amber of the Ao4) and the very handsome Thor to play the Japanese name game.

Here are the rules: Simply spell out your name using the following key:

A - ka, B - tu, C - mi, D -te, E - ku, F - lu, G - ji, H - ri, I - ki, J - zu, K - me, L - ta, M - rin, N - to, O - mo, P - no, Q - ke, R - shi, S - ari, T - chi, U - do, V - ru, W - mei, X - na, Y - fu, Z - zi.

Then tag 6 friends!

So Huffle Mawson = Ridolulutate Rinkameiarimoto!

Wow that's long! I'm not even sure I can pronounce that.

So I'd like to tag Tia and Wilbur and Witty Kitty and Tasha and Eva and Ari.
