Brave new Huffle

So last night, after mum got home from her trip WITH NO NEW MOUSES, we were all sitting watching telly and Salvador was scratching at the front door like he does when he wants to come in. I was sitting on dad's lap at the time being a purring Huffle but he got up to let Salvador in.

When Salvador walked past me, I stuck out my paw and hit him in the face! I felt very brave and I knew mum would stick up for me if he tried to hit me back. But he just looked surprised and kept walking. This could be the start of a whole new situation in Huffle Land. Mum and dad were laughing so hard they nearly fell off the couch.

Normally I run up to Salvador to hit him but I get scared at the last second and run away again. Not any more! And anyway, if he tried to attack me all my friends and the troopers in the Army of Four would defend me (I hope).

Brave Huffle!

Busy times

Mum's away so I had to try and do this post all by myself. It's hard to type when you don't have thumbs, and you have long claws like me (until Queen Meeshka's claws are back, mine are available for her use).

Anyway after all my hard work this weekend I thought I'd show you a picture of me playing with my mouses. Not Roger; I haven't decided if I really like him yet. For starters, he takes up a lot of room in my bed! This is my oldest, most favourite mouse ever.
See how ferocious I look? I have been practicing that look on Salvador so he will leave me alone. I'm not sure how well it's working but he hasn't tried to hit me over the head for a couple of weeks now.

New instructions

My attorney at claw, Queen Meeshka, has informed me that I am being too kind to mum by not putting any fur in her coffee cup on the weekends. So, I will do the right thing and accidentally dip my tail in next time (mum, if you're reading this, I'm just saying it to humour Meeshka. Otherwise I really mean it).

Meanwhile, I was so tired from all my hard work yesterday that I had to just lie down last night. I didn't even have the strength to make it to my Huffle bed. I think Zimmie's right: I may have overdone it with all my efforts.

Mum is going away again tomorrow for three days. That means I will be left with dad (who does feed me, so that's ok) and Salvador (who still hates me). Maybe I should overcome my fear of being in the car and go with mum. Dad doesn't wake up and let me under the doona like mum does. I'm not sure what to do about that!

Busy Sunday

It's the first day of winter here in Australia. To celebrate, it's 11degC outside (about 51F for those kitties and pups who don't understand celsius) which means this explorer cat is NOT going outside as it's too chilly for my paws.

I have been helping mum inside though. Here I am making sure she can't change the channel on the telly (the remote sensor thingy is behind me) because I am watching a Kylie Minogue special:
Here I am helping dad to fix the phone line problem we've been having:
And here I am making sure no-one goes upstairs without my permission. I take my sentry duties very seriously:
A busy day so far! Am I doing a good job Zimmie?

Purrr S: another coffee in bed passed without incident today.

Purrr Purrr S: my paws are crossed for Charlie. We live in the same city as Charlie and Opy (and Greg and Brooke) so I am going to ask mum if we can go visit them.

Weekend duties

It's Saturday so I have been helping mum with the washing. I usually supervise her doing the housework like that. We have cleaners who do the hoovering and washing the floors and bathrooms etc but mum still has to do the washing. I make sure she hangs the clothes on the line properly. Sometimes I supervise dad doing the dishes at night too. You can never assume these humans will get it all right.

Mum had her coffee in bed this morning and nothing was spilt; she didn't find any Huffle hairs in her cup either. I am such a good cat!

Unhappy Huffle

Mum has been away for two days. For some reason she didn't bring me any new mouses. I like Roger but he is very big so I can only play with him for a short time before I get tired and have to take a nap.

This is me, ignoring mum as she tried to take a photo of me:I was trying to run away from her but she had that nasty camera already. Huffle is not happy!

Purrr S: notice how blue my eyes look? They're not really blue though.

Huffle's new mouse

Well, I think it's a mouse. It might be a rat. I'm not sure. Here's me playing with my new mouse:

Here is a picture of me sitting next to my new mouse. It's very big, I can hardly pick it up.

I shall name him Roger.

Huffle Mawson, Explorer Cat

Here are some photos of me being an explorer cat in the backyard. Really I was supervising mum hanging out the washing this morning. She needs all the help she can get!

And here I am, having had enough of the photos. Stormy taught me well!

Purrr S: all those green bits? Weeds. Except the "tree" behind me.

Saturday sleep in

Last night I was so chilly I had to stay on the bed with mum and dad all night. Then this morning I got under the doona to get toasty. I was so happy and purring! Mum even had coffee this morning and didn't spill it or anything.

Today mum and dad went out for lunch. I stayed asleep in their bed all day. I was guarding it from intruders. Really! When they arrived home they didn't have any new mouses for me which is a great disappointment. I'm really going to have to do something about this.

I've just been outside being an explorer cat but it's getting cold so I had to come in again. My paws get so chilly!

Oh and Tia, I do like to spread my toys around the house. The tail from one of my mouses that broke off (I have NO idea how it happened, really) I took upstairs to play with one day. Mum and dad thought that was funny. I don't see why; I should get to have my toys wherever I want!

Just an aside - did anyone notice my colour co-ordination in the picture of me in my Huffle bed? Purple bed, purple collar...

Sleepy Huffle

This morning it's 3degC (that's 37degF for all you other pups and kitties out there). I don't like it when it's this cold, my paws get all chilly if I go outside so I have to stay in to keep warm. That doesn't give an explorer cat much chance to go exploring!

Last night I slept between mum and dad all night, it was so toasty! Early this morning I clawed mum's hair and got under the doona and I was even more toasty!

Here is a picture of me being toasty in my Huffle bed - notice I have some of my mouses with me for safekeeping.

Huffle is 50 today!

Okay well not 50 years old (that would put me in the Guinness Book of World Records I think) but this is my 50th post!

I'm so happy that I decided to get a blog. Mum and I had been reading lots of blogs for ages... dad suggested that I write my own... mum thought about it for a bit (since obviously she is the one who helps me with mine)... and the rest, as they say, is history!

For ages I don't think anyone read my blog but then I got brave and started commenting on some blogs that I like to read and now I have so many friends! Thankyou to everyone who has been so nice to me (the Ao4, Dr Tubey, my attorney at claw Queen Meeshka, Holly, Khyra, Thor, Witty Kitty and the gang, Wilbur and Steve and Kat, Tia and Sitka, Ben the Rottie and everyone else!).

Everyone is invited to my house tonight for a pawty. Mum is making pupcakes!

Tagged!

I have been tagged by the prettiest Husky in the world (Amber of the Ao4) and the very handsome Thor to play the Japanese name game.

Here are the rules: Simply spell out your name using the following key:

A - ka, B - tu, C - mi, D -te, E - ku, F - lu, G - ji, H - ri, I - ki, J - zu, K - me, L - ta, M - rin, N - to, O - mo, P - no, Q - ke, R - shi, S - ari, T - chi, U - do, V - ru, W - mei, X - na, Y - fu, Z - zi.

Then tag 6 friends!

So Huffle Mawson = Ridolulutate Rinkameiarimoto!

Wow that's long! I'm not even sure I can pronounce that.

So I'd like to tag Tia and Wilbur and Witty Kitty and Tasha and Eva and Ari.

I will tag anyone who hasn't done their meme memoir yet!

Weekend weather

Today it is pouring with rain at my house. Mum noticed it was raining at 5am when I woke her up (I wanted to get under the doona because it was cold) and it was still raining when we had our coffee in bed at 9am. It's just after lunch now and still raining!

I'm talking about the rain because a) it's the first time in about 25 million years that it's rained like this and b) it's preventing me from going outside and being an explorer cat! Okay, so maybe not 25 million years, but at least a few months. You don't have a drought for 11 years with rain like this.

Coffee in bed passed without incident and now I'm tucked up in my huffle bed snoozing the day away. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get to post about my meme memoir. Did you see Wilbur's? It was fantastic. I wish I had my pilot's license too. But since I don't even like going in the car, perhaps it's not the best plan. Witty Kitty, perhaps you should do one too!

Later I will supervise mum doing the washing. An Explorer Cat's work is never done! Perhaps I am a working breed like my best pup-bud Zimmie.
