The Toastiest Huffle Ever!

A special note for the last day of winter in Australia...

The best way to be REALLY toasty is to take advantage of someone else's toastiness. Then you don't have to work so hard at being toasty.

This is me sitting on mum's lap, under the toasty couch blanket and next to the heater. It's a very toasty spot.

Please ignore mum's sleepy pants, I think she's trying to outdo Meeshka's human woman with these things.

Huffle Paws

A while back, my attorney-at-claw Queen Meeshka had her claws trimmed (*gasp*). Until they grew back, I offered her my claws to use instead. I thought it would be good to show you how sharp my claws really are.
This photo is from when I was just lying on my bed asleep (where is Mr Mouse, I hear you ask? I don't know). So these are not even extended claws - these are claws at rest.

Another Huffle Movie!

I know you've all been wondering what Mr Mouse does when he's not busy being my bodyguard. Mum got the video camera out to catch him in action this week!

Even More Toasty Huffle!

When it's REALLY cold outside the toasty couch blankets come out in our house. If you are a lucky kitty like me, mum lets you sleep on one of the blankets, all tucked up nice and toasty.
Poo-face Salvador is not allowed to even sit on mum's blanket, never mind be wrapped up in it like I am. Just as well. Also: this blanket is in the prime position next to the oil heater. That's essential for maximum toastiness.

Toasty Huffle

When it's winter you really should stay inside near the heater. When the heater isn't on, I think you need to find a ray of sunshine and lay in it. It's even better when mum has just put soft new sheets on your very own bed.

Special Anniversary

Today is a very special day for a certain pup. On this day two years ago, Miss Fluffy Tail was in doggy prison, hoping for a new home. A certain lady had already been to visit her a week ago, but Whitney, as she was called then, didn't know if she was coming back. This is her in doggy jail:

Two years on, Khyra is a happy pup with the fluffiest tail of all! Here she is today:

It was Khyra's mum's birthday on the day she adopted Khyra so today is a double celebration. Happy gotcha day Khyra, and happy birthday to Khyra's mum!

Roger's Secret Mission is complete!

Remember when I sent Roger on a secret mission? Well, he finally reported in and his mission has been a complete success!

I asked Roger to go over to the USA and keep an eye out for my best friend Zimmie. And he did such a good job that he made it all the way to Zimmie's house! He managed to stow away in a box of fabrics that my mum sent to Zimmie's mum. I'll bet Zim was surprised to find Roger in that box.
I couldn't tell anyone in case they tried to ratnap Roger on the way!
Zim's brother and sisters have been most accepting of Roger too - especially Ammy! And Stormy has been looking after him, as you can see. Thanks Stormy!

If you look at the Army of Four's report from yesterday you will get a complete rundown of Roger's secret mission. Zim explained it in coyote and Dave translated into Siberian.

I wasn't feeling very well yesterday. I was even sick on my bed! Not my Huffle bed, my big bed upstairs. Mum was a bit annoyed but it's not my fault I was sick. Dad cleaned it all up for me and I slept nearly all day so I feel better now.

Winning Huffle

A few days ago, my friend Indy had a contest on his blog. He put up some photos and everyone got to suggest a caption for them. Well, guess what? I won! You can see the photos of the flamingos and I suggested they might be doing the Time Warp. Here is the trophy I won:

Isn't it great? Thanks Indy!

Naughty Huffle

Do you ever get caught doing things you're not meant to do? I am usually a good girl but I LOVE to sharpen my claws on the carpet. There is a rug downstairs that I am allowed to scratch, and I never touch the couch, but I am not really meant to be doing this. Oops.
I have to wonder, though, why I get told it's so wrong when mum ran and got the camera this time!

Vicious Huffle

The other day, I was sitting on mum's lap and we were doing some blog surfing. Mum was rubbing my belly which is a big no-no; I don't let ANYONE rub my belly.

Mum kept rubbing and rubbing and wouldn't stop so I had to bite her! But then I licked her to say I was sorry for putting the bitey on her.

She still lets me sit on her lap so it's okay.

Mum's note: Huffle has had issues with anyone touching her belly since the day we brought her home. I must have been rubbing her belly without realising, and she probably tolerated it for a few minutes until she couldn't take it any more. She did bite me but then licked me straight away to apologise.

Week of 100

My Attorney-at-claw, Queen Meeshka, is doing a fundraiser for Harnessed to Hope Northern Breed Rescue for the first week of September. She is promising to post 100 posts over the course of five days from Monday 1 September to midnight on Friday 5 September. There are prizes and games and it's going to be so much fun! So go visit Meeskha's blog and support her fundraising.

Click here to find out how. If you're wondering why she's doing it, click here to discover why.

New Award

My lovely MrSippi and Mama, Carolina, Thor and Marco Polo gave me an award! It's the Nice to be Nice Award. I am so honoured, I try to be nice to everyone (except poo-face Salvador but he doesn't deserve it).

Thank you pups and kitties!

The Laws of Physics for Cats

  1. Acceleration: A cat will accelerate at a constant rate until the cat gets good and ready to stop.
  2. Aerodynamics: If it flies, a cat will chase it.
  3. Bag or Box Occupancy: All bags and boxes in a given room must contain a cat within the earliest possible nanosecond.
  4. Dinner Table Attendance: A cat will attend all meals when anything good is served.
  5. Disinterest: A cat's interest level will vary in inverse proportion to the amount of effort a human expends in trying to interest the cat.
  6. Electric Blanket Attraction: Turn on an electric blanket and a cat will jump into bed at the speed of light.
  7. Elongation: A cat can make its body long enough to reach just about any counter top that has anything remotely interesting on it.
  8. Embarrassment: A cat's irritation rises in direct proportion to the cat's embarrassment times the amount of human laughter.
  9. Energy Conservation - 1st Law: A cat knows that energy can neither be created nor destroyed and will therefore use as little energy as possible.
  10. Energy Conservation- 2nd Law: A cat knows that energy can only be stored by a lot of napping.
  11. Fluid Displacement: A cat immersed in milk will displace its own volume, minus the amount of milk consumed.
  12. Furniture Replacement: A cat's desire to scratch furniture is directly proportional to the cost of the furniture.
  13. Gravity: The cat knows that gravity works, even when sound asleep.
  14. Inertia: A cat at rest will tend to remain at rest, unless acted upon by some outside force, such as the opening of cat food or a nearby scurrying mouse.
  15. Landing: A cat will always land in the softest place possible.
  16. Magnetism: All blue blazers and black sweaters attract cat hair in direct proportion to the darkness of the fabric.
  17. Milk Consumption: A cat will drink its weight in milk, squared, just to show you that the cat can do it.
  18. Motion: A cat will move in a straight line, unless there is a really good reason to change direction.
  19. Obedience Resistance: A cat's resistance varies in direct proportion to a human's desire for the cat to do something.
  20. Obstruction: A cat will lay on the floor in such a position as to obstruct the maximum amount of human foot traffic.
  21. Pill Rejection: Any pill given to a cat has the potential energy to reach escape velocity.
  22. Random Comfort Seeking: A cat will always seek (and usually take over) the most comfortable spot in any given room.
  23. Refrigerator Observation: If a cat watches a refrigerator long enough, someone will come along and take out something good to eat.
  24. Rug Configuration: No rug may remain in its naturally flat state for very long.
  25. Sleeping: A cat will sleep with people whenever possible, in a position as uncomfortable for the people involved as possible, while maintaining the cat's own comfort.
  26. Stretching: A cat will stretch to a distance proportional to the length of the nap just taken.
  27. Thermodynamics: Heat flows from a warmer to a cooler body, except in the case of a cat, in which case all heat flows to the cat.
  28. Total Composition: A cat is composed of Matter plus Anti-Matter plus It Doesn't Matter!
  29. Selective Listening: A cat can hear a can of tuna being opened a mile away, but cannot hear a simple command three feet away.
  30. Invisibility: A cat thinks if they cannot see you, then you cannot see them.

My new bodyguard

My new bodyguard has arrived! He got here during the week and has been doing bodyguard training with ASIO ever since. I think he's ready to take on the job.

I was just sitting, minding my own business, getting toasty, when the pupparazzi appeared. Oh no!

Mr Mouse appeared out of nowhere and told the pupparazzi to go away and stop bothering me.

But they didn't listen so when they tried to take another photo, Mr Mouse jumped in front of me so no-one could get another pupparazzi shot!
I think he's got a big future being my bodyguard. You know what they say: good things come in small packages.

My new favourite spot

It's been very cold this week. Last Sunday, our maximum temperature was 9 deg C! That is very chilly and I don't like it. There was even some hail. I am scared of hail so I had to run to mum for protection.

Before that, I was busy doing this:
I was at Praline's house trashing party last night so I'm a bit tired.

House Panther Huffle

I am a black cat and I an a house panther. Sometimes, you can't see me.

I was out in the back garden one evening, doing some gardening, when mum wandered past with the flashy beast. This is Thyme that I am sniffing...

Huffle's boyfriend

I was so nervous but he said yes! Who said the girls couldn't ask the boys? I'd like you all to meet my gorgeous boyfriendcat, MrSippi!

Isn't he handsome?

And don't worry, my best friend Zim told MrSipppi he had to look after me or else! If he doesn't treat me like a princess I am sure the HULA pups will chase him.

Visitor

My friend Sweet Praline's mum has gone on holiday and left her all alone. So, she snuck on a plane and came to visit me! She wanted to see some Australian things so we went to the zoo.

Here we are posing with a kangaroo:

Next we climbed a tree to see this koala (but he was asleep):

And then we posed with this echidna. Don't worry, they're not really that big. It's just a tricky photo!

Thanks for visiting me Praline! I hope you had a good holiday. I'll be over to your place later for the house trashing party! And we'd like to mention the lovely weather we had while Praline was here: a cool 13 deg C each day. We have a nice heater at home so Praline and I shared that and scared poo-face Salvador off.

Award!

My friends Thor, Marco Polo, Mama, Carolina and MrSippi, and my new friends Kayka K and Maebe Baebe gave me an award! It's the Blogging Friends Forever Award and I am very proud to receive it.

Okay the rules are: I give this award to five friends (and only 5) who are dedicated followers of my blog. And one has to be a new blogger in a different part of the world. And I link back to whoever gave me this award. So I will give this to:
  • Zimmie and Amber - Zimmie is my best friend! And if I was a real Husky (not just an honorary one) I'd want to look just like Amber
  • Edda - she's a black cat and new to the blogging world AND she lives in Montana which is the other side of the world to me
  • Turbo - our future president and the dog who made me an Honorary Husky
  • Pablo - I found out recently that he lives in the next state and he always comments on my blog so he must be a dedicated follower :)
That equals five so I am done. Thanks again to my lovely friends for giving me this award.

Help is on the way

My best friend Zimmie emailed me the other day and offered to find me a new body guard, since Polie didn't work out. I said yes please, and look! My new bodyguard is on the way. If anypup or kitty has a suggestion for his name, please leave me a comment or email!

Also, if anyone knows where to find sunglasses that are small enough for Mr Mouse to wear while he is on protective detail, I'd be pleased to know! Thankyou.

Special Sunday

Miss Fluffy Tail herself has given out some awards! She said: this one is for ALL the SMS bloggers! Please sit up and take a (play)bow fur your kindness and khoncern fur each other without having to worry about staying on topikh!

Since I am now an honorary member of the SiberMal Society (because I am an honorary husky), Khyra said I should accept this award too! Thanks Khyra!

Roger left on his secret mission on Friday. I can't say where he has gone in case mum reads my blog. I'll let you know when he arrives at his destination though!

Needs Meme

My friend Sweet Praline tagged me for this earlier in the week, but mum and I had a few issues trying to get a sensible response! Here are the rules:

All you have to do is Google your first name with the word "needs" behind it and post the results. Don't forget to tag (if you are the tagging sort)! So we Googled "Huffle needs" and here are some of the results...

I think Google thought I meant "shuffle" because we got a lot of those results!

Does the iPod Shuffle need protection? This is a silly question! I don't have an iPod shuffle!

Huffle Nursery School opened in September 1981. Wow, there's a school named after me!

Families need not worry about shuffle. Well no, why would they?

iPod shuffle? My daughter's needs... I don't have a daughter. How would I know what she needs?

Monday random shuffle: Mars needs guitars. Well of course it does. Everybody needs guitars. And since I am the resident DJ at the House of Huffle, it makes perfect sense.

Since they were all a bit silly, we decided to try my real name, Stella. Here are the results:

Stella needs a caption in the dishwasher no no, it wasn't me, I swear!

Stella needs to get her groove back I don't think so, I am DJ Huffle, I have plenty of groove

Stella needs to stop crying But I wasn't!

Stella needs our vote It's true, then I can delegate them to Tubey in the presidential election

Stella needs a home NO! I have a lovely home. I'm not going anywhere.

Secret mission

I am sending Roger on a secret mission.

"So Roger, this is what I want you to do..."

What mum? No, I'm not doing anything.

Do-It-Yourself Chin Scratches

If there's no one around to give you chin scratches, here are some handy tips to show you how to do it yourself. Any pup or kitty can try this at home.

First, find a good height coffee table. Make sure that poo-face Salvador is not on top of the coffee table to jump on your head when you least expect it.

Second, make sure it is a nice colour to match your fur.

Third, use the corner to scratch your chin!

If your mum is not as useless as mine, she will think you are being cute and give you scratches of your own.

(Mum's note: thank doG for dark furniture! My white kitchen wall corners have not fared so well.)

Gardening with Huffle

My best friend Zimmie is very good at gardening and I have been paying attention to what he says. Here are my efforts in the garden.

Here I am not looking at the camera (have to keep up my practice under Stormy's tutelage):

Here I am attacking the grass:

Here I am hiding in the bushes again:

And here I am sitting pretty for mum, because she took about 65 photos to get these ones:

Invader

I was happily sitting, having a bath... (notice the extra foot has reappeared, growing out of my head again)
When I spotted something suspicious behind me...

Hey, where did that come from?

I'll get you, you pesky tail. How dare you follow me around?

Ha, gotcha!

What mum? What do you mean, "it's attached to me"?
Oh. Okay.
Isn't that a lovely bit of honorary husky fluff on the floor there?

Sunday out on the balcony

During the winter, I don't get to go out on mum and dad's bedroom balcony because it's really cold. They don't like to open the door and let all the cold wind in. But yesterday, I sat next to the door and looked at mum all sad until she gave in!

Here I am about to leap up on the railing:

Don't worry, mum doesn't let me get up there because the railing is round and I wouldn't be able to get my balance, even though I am a black explorer cat.

I was annoyed with mum for taking more photos of me so I stuck my tongue out at her for this one!

Huffle's new job

I got a new job. Mum is always cooing over Dave and his Guide Dog for the Colour Blind gig so I thought I should do something to help mum out.

I am the new DJ in the house of Huffle! Here I am choosing which CDs should be played next.

Unfortunately, mum woke me up when I was having a nap yesterday - as you can see I wasn't too happy about it:
My friend Angus wanted to know what my name means. I have talked about it briefly before but here is the long-winded version. When mum and dad adopted me from the Cat Protection Society, I didn't have a name, just a number. Dad spent a week trying to figure out a name that suited me, and eventually chose Stella (it had to start with "s" because of poo-face Salvador). So my real name is Stella. But eventually, once I had started relaxing after I realised that I was in my fur-ever home and safe, I started exploring. I huff at things I don't understand, or don't like, and mum had been watching the Harry Potter films and started calling me Hufflepuff. That got shortened to Huffle. My second name is Mawson, because I am an explorer cat. Mum calls me nosy. I am just interested in things. Like Mawson the antarctic explorer.

I forgot to say that the spare foot that was growing out of my head has magically disappeared. I think Thor and Marco Polo came over in the middle of the night and chewed it off. I'm glad to be rid of it, it was attracting a lot of unnecessary attention.

HELP!

Why is there a foot growing out of my head???
Somepuppy help me!

I'd like to thank Thunder and Stormy for awarding me the Brillante Weblog Premio 2008 Award! Thanks pups, it's an honour!
