Today it's a public holiday in Melbourne to celebrate the Melbourne Cup. It's Australia's richest horse race, run over 3,200m. First place wins $3.2 million dollars. I don't think I can run fast enough to win though.
Here is a picture of the horses that came first (Viewed) and second (Bauer). Viewed won by about 3cm. It was a very close finish!
Mum didn't have to go to work today so we had coffee in bed. Then mum and dad went shopping and came home with boxes! I had to check them out, an explorer cat's work is never done. I'm going to have a nap now, like my best friend Zimmie is doing.

I wish it was a public holiday around Australia, then I'd have Kate at home with me today, too... tight finish, hey?
I might be able to run that fast!
OH WOW! Yet another day with your mum!!
Remember how many Huffle pats and pets she owes woo!!!

Is that what they mean by winning by a nose?
You're an honorary husky; I bet you could run that fast! Ha roooo!
Play bows,
Zim
PS: That's so cool that you have your mom home with you!!!
That sounds like an excellent day, Huffle!
All of those horses are about the same color as you, so maybe it's in your genes to run fast. Think how many treats you could buy me with that much money.

What was in the boxes? Anything for you?

Hey Huffle,
They just had some big horse race over here called The Breeders Cup. They give out lots of money at that one too. Our Dad and Mom love to watch racing; NASCAR racing. It goes on forever and ever. Round and round and round and round. Only two more races 'til the final race (Thank DOG.)

Your mom went shopping for boxes? (hee hee) A kitty's dream come true! She is definitely making up for abandoning you for so long.
Hey Huffle,
The local newspaper here, the Fredericksnbug (Virginia) Free- Lance Star, had an article in it about the Melboune Cup. It said that it's a week long event with fashion shows and parties and that a lot of horses from around the world now try to enter the race because it's become a really big ($ 5.5 Million) event. Must be a big deal if it's in our local fish wrapper.
