Competitive Napping Finalists 3

Welcome to the third day of competition everyone! It's been a great event so far but we have a lot more to show you!

First up today we have some UK representatives, Eric and Flynn. They've clearing exhausted themselves by blogging too hard and are now taking well-deserved naps.

Eric:

Flynn:

This is Batu Khan, a fellow Aussie kitty blogger, entering the "where does the body start and end" category. I think the hint of collar just gives it away...
Batu Khan

Up next are Mya and Zack. Their mum says she is too busy to start them a blog; I say that's no excuse!

Zack does not like Monday mornings, as you can see here:
zack's monday mornings

And he has issues with the printer too!
zack - olympic committee

Mya is totally going for the cute vote with those curled paws, and a high degree of difficulty considering it looks like she's asleep on the back of the couch:
mya - freestyle

And doing her best sphinx impression:
mya - competitive sphinx lookalike

Into the ring comes the entry from I Have Cat. Very nice form, kitties. VERY nice.

Here's one of our French competitors, Sei-Chan from The Pouponette. Gorgeous!

Next up come the kitties from the Casbah Kitten.

Alice? Those back paws? TOO CUTE!

And Jane is going for gold in the "sleeping where I'm not allowed" category:

It's time now for one of the Island competitors, Wally from the Island Cats. Such poise and balance!
Wally

Up next is Marcy Stein from Cat Lady Diary. Showing great composure in not rolling over and letting that sun on her belly, I must say.
marcy_stein_nap1

Stepping up now is one of our honorary kitty kat competitors, Drill Sgt Zim from the Army of Four. He's gone for a high degree of difficulty with napping on the Sitzbank, which is strictly NOT allowed in his house. Way to go, Zim!
Zim

Next in the ring is sweet little Paddy all the way from the Netherlands, of Cats in Trees fame. I just don't know how anycat is going to compete with this pose:
Paddy

Here's our friend Wilbur of the Washington Woos, demonstrating how to sleep in a basket on top of his aunt's wedding invitations - very helpful Wilbur!
Wilbur01

And on top of the television. Is that a warm spot? Should I be giving that a go too?
Wilbur02

Showing some floofalicious form here is Ellie from Cory Cat Blog. So much floof! So much style!
Ellie

And here we have our Kiwi competitor Inigo Flufflebum, showing us how to keep our tushies warm on a cold day:

And Barney. Oh Barney, the cuteness level is off the scale here!
Barney02

This is Jeter. He's a bit of a dark horse; he's napping ON a cushion ON a chair AT the human dinner table!

Jeter

From Furrever Home, TK performing with a high degree of difficulty due to sleeping on his face and not being able to breathe properly:
TK

And Squashies, clearly exhausted from her trek across the top of the couch. I think two dangling paws shows extreme ability!
Squashies

From Friends Forever in Florida, we have two entries.

Here's Sniffie, showing you all how to do napping and cute at the same time:
Sniffsleepflat

And Allie, proving you can nap and balance at the same time:
alliebathroom

Next into the ring is Maisie, sister to Morgan in Pittsburgh. Clearly Maisie is a wannabe cat as she's trying really hard to nap in the cat bed. She deserves bonus points for that!
Maisie

This is Millie, nicknamed Pie. She doesn't have a blog yet but is trying to convince her mum to start one for her. I definitely think she should, don't you? Pie is competing in Extreme Napping for getting up on the fridge!
MilliePie

This is Tuna from Kitty Stampede, watched over by her brother Turtle. That is one dramatic napping pose, Tuna!
Tuna&Turtles

Next into the ring today is little Jazzie Jessie, Cheyenne-Millie's sister. Watching Rockford Files really wore her out.
JazzieJessie

Next up are the kitties from Meow Family. They entered here instead of synchronised snoozing because, well, they're not synchronised.

Jackie, Shadow and Flip:
JackieShadowFlip

And this is Shadow, demonstrating an incredible degree of difficulty by sitting up and napping! Amazing.
Shadow

Our next competitor is Coco the Parrotcat. She hasn't been blogging for too long but is very excited to be entering the Cat-O-Lympics! Take a very close look at her second photo. See that body in the distance? The one facing the wrong way? Yep, that's Coco.

Up next is Brutus the French Bulldog. He's a champion at agility, hence all the ribbons in his photo. Should we submit this to StuffOnMyCat as well, do you think?

Brutus02

Our final competitor for today is none other than Khady Lynn from Omaha. She is demonstrating excellent competitive napping style by using the human's bed. Good work Khady Lynn!

Competitive Napping Finalists 1

Bear with me, pups and kitties, this is going to be HUGE! I've received so many entries for the Competitive Napping event in the Cat-O-Lympics that this is going to be the hardest contest in the world to judge.

Because of the enormous number of entries, I'm going to post all participants over the next five days. These are in no particular order and please don't panic if you don't see your entry in the first day - there are a lot to get through. Luckily the Winter Olympics goes all the way through to next weekend because that's when we'll be having the medal ceremony here for Competitive Napping. And can I just say thank you to every single pup and kitty who entered, even if you don't get on the medal dais you are all winners!

For your consideration and appreciation, I present - in no particular order - the following athletes who are worthy contenders in the Competitive Napping Event!

First up we have Sweet Praline, pulling out all the stops with a baby photo of her sleeping on the back of the couch and upside down!

Sweet Praline

Next up we have Derry, and he's competing with a high degree of difficulty because his mum put chicken wire over his pot to try and deter him from napping there. But that didn't stop Derry!

Derry

Here are all the kitties over at Peggy's Place! Some good form here, they've obviously been in training for some time.

Here we have Maggy from Zoolatry, showing everycat how to make themselves comfortable in the Zoolatry Human's chair.

Maggy, Competitive Napping

Next up is Misha, adding a little something to his entry with the extended back paw.

Misha-3

Here's Ali Z, showing us a very interesting way to sleep on the stairs. Her eyes are just open because she was startled by the flashy beast. I think we can all relate to that!

Ali Z on stairs

Up next is Jack-A-Roo, further demonstrating that sleeping with your head down the stairs is comfortable. Who knew?

And here's Jack's sister Miss Moo showing us a full lay down belly expose!

And who's this? Sparkle the Designer Cat, napping where she really shouldn't be, inside the mattress lining of her human's bed.

Next up is Danielle, showing some good form with outstretched paws on the carpet.

Danielle

Our next competitor is Snafu from Cat of Nine Tales, demonstrating complete adherence to the optional rules by napping in the dish drainer. Way to go, Snafu!

Last into the ring today is Ariel from A Smile A Day. I should have had a gymnast's division. Amazing work, Ariel!

Pupparazzi Attack

Huffle 05

I was minding my own business out in the garden the other day when the pupparazzi showed up. They took about 256,897,143 photos of me but this is the only one that I was prepared to allow on the interweb.

Don't forget to submit your Cat-O-Lympic entries! Details were on Tuesday's post.

Cat-O-Lympics!

GoldMedalBadgeLarge

Is everyone enjoying the winter Olympics so far? I think it's great! And in conjunction with Fin over at Housecat Confidential, I am hosting an Olympic event right here!

My event is competitive napping. This is a very complicated event so I thought the best way to show you how it is done is with a photo:

PP01

See how I am napping in a spot that really, I was never meant to sleep in? That's right, it's my old parsley pot! Mum did grow parsley in there but I took it over and it became my favourite napping spot.

Anyway the rules for competitive napping are really easy. All you have to do is submit a photo of you napping. Preferably in a spot you're not meant to be, but any photo of you taking a nap is eligible.

You can email me the photo, or post it on your own blog and leave me a comment to tell me it's there, or you can post it on your own blog and email me to tell me it's there. It's that simple. You can enter any time between now and midnight Friday (midnight wherever you are). If you post the photo on your own blog and tell me about it, you are giving me permission to borrow the photo to post here for the finals on the weekend. All competitors will have their photos on my blog on Saturday and Sunday, and Monday will be the medal ceremony.

So get napping everyone! All kitties, and pups who think they can nap as well as kitties, are eligible to enter.

p.s. if you email me your entry please make sure you include your name, and your blog address so I can make sure the photo links back to the right spot.

One last thing. If you would like to use the Cat-O-Lympics badge I have here, please click on it and it will take you to my FlickR account, where you are welcome to download it for yourself. If your assistant is technically challenged, let me know and I can email it to you :)

Flashback

Ages ago, before I had very many blogging friends, I posted this picture of me snoopervising mum's coffee cup. See, dad brings coffee in bed to mum every Saturday and Sunday morning. It's a routine that's been going on a long time. And she often complains that there are black Huffle hairs in her coffee.

hufflecoffee01

I have no idea why.
