The great escape

One day last week, mum and dad were standing near the front door talking. Dad was about to go out and he had already opened the front door. While he was talking to mum, I saw my big chance and I ran as fast as I could from the other end of the house and out the door! I made it all the way to the front lawn (no grass, just weeds) before dad realised that the black blur he saw was me. He ran outside and chased me back in the house.

Then mum and dad shut the door and laughed and laughed.

I wasn't laughing. They totally ruined my fun.

Oh, no, Huffle! They were taking good care of you. Keeping you away from cars, trucks, big mean pups (I hear there ARE a few of these) and other scary things.

Just mind your Mom and Dad!

Kisses,
Stella

I know just how you feel Huffle! I get real close to the back door every time they let that big yellow dog out! I am hoping for the chance to get out... but mom's big feets are always in the way!

Sandusky on the other hands is always slicker! He sneaks out real fast! Then the humans always catches him and bring him back in!

Oh no, Huffle! You don't want to go outside in that big world. There are too many dangers out there.

We use to try to escape in our old house because we were Not Allowed Outside. It was very dangerous there. Please, be very careful, Huffle!

Well, how are you supposed to be an EXPLORER cat if they won't let you EXPLORE?!?! Hrumph!

PS: Stormy said please be careful and don't do that again - but added this DOES give you extra credit as an honorary husky. It's totally something we'd do!

Showing your honorary Husky-ness! Way to go. Funny our humans prevent the fun too.

Nice escape, even though it was short. The whole purpose of escape is to get the human heart pumping and freaking them out, so job well done.

Sniffie went outside once and stayed out overnight. Our Mom was so scared and sad that something bad might happen to her. Please don't go outside, it's scary.

Yes, Huffle - be careful - its a scary world out there and you need to be a warrior like me to survive!

Oh Huffle, you almost made it out there, out in the wild.

I am allowed out anytime I please, and I don't even have to say please.

Stay safe Huffle.

No, Huffle, don't do that. Tell Mom to get a harness and leash for you and take you for a walk - it is much safer.

Huffle, it was a good attempt to escape but your mum and dad were right in making you come back inside where it's safe! Just make sure they have plenty of toys and treats to make the stay inside worthwhile!

Was a taste of raw and savage wilderness!

Ahhh! So close and yet so far. It's probably best to limit you exploring of the outside world to the back yard under mum's supervision. Bad things happen to "outside" cats. Inside cats live on average about twice as long as outside cats. We want you to be an inside cat. Watch the National Geopgraphic channel for travel adventures while nibbling on ham.

I know just how you feel, I can go in the back yard with mum, but not out the front where all thecars and mad things are. Mum opens the door to unload the car, or postman etc. I try to get out often but mum or dad always get me first.

I suppose it is because they care...

Huffle, your mom and dad mean well. We usually don't try to get out, but when Abby or I do get out there, Mom flips out. She says something about coyotes.

How exciting. I once escaped from the summer house (I dug a tunnel) and had the Man chasing me around the house a couple of times before I went inside.

Escaping is great fun!

It's not nice of them to laugh, Huffle. And it wasn't nice of them to ruin your big escape....
