Excellent spot! There's no way around you without inconveniencing the humans, and if they do step on you, they'll feel guilty. If they fall down the stairs, that's a good laugh.
I think your mom needs to get you a special pillow to nap on when you're on the stairs. AND she has to move it up and down the stairs so that you can always lay in the sun.
