When I go out in the backyard, I like to play and roll around. Mum and dad call it gooning. It's what I do whenever someone comes out to the backyard when I'm out there.

I roll around at the bottom of the stairs, or on the pavers, or near the garage. Yesterday dad couldn't find me but could hear me chirping and he looked over the neighbour's fence and I was rolling around in their yard (the house is empty right now)!

It has been a busy week here. The Australian Open started on Monday, and since I like to watch tennis on TV, I've been staying up late watching all the night matches. So I have to take plenty of naps, in order to stay awake half the night.

All this tennis is really interfering with my 23 hours and 47 minutes per day napping schedule.

Mum and dad were away all weekend at a wedding. We stayed at my grandparents house because the builders came back to our home to do a bit more work. After all that, dad and I needed a nap.

One year ago today a sad, pathetic little kitten arrived on our doorstep, and instantly became a part of our family. He was so cute and adorable:

Teddy here, to tell you some exciting news. My girlfriend Ruby - the prettiest cat in the whole world - gave us an award! Huffle would like you all to know that her friend Batu also gave her the award.

Ever since we moved house a month ago, it has felt like we are on holidays. Mum has not been at work full time, dad keeps having naps in the afternoon (which I TOTALLY approve of) and there was the excitement of Christmas and New Year, and my birthday.

Now that January has started, I think things will get back to normal. At least, I hope so.

All this excitement can be very tiring for a black cat.

Teddy would like you all to think that he is a good boy and never does anything wrong. He says he even has this picture to prove it.

This is his Teddy Bed that he sleeps in every night. Mum bought it for him on his second ever day with us and he has loved it from the very first moment he saw it. He even goes off to have naps in it during the day.

Mum bought him another, identical, bed to have in the lounge room (this one is in mum and dad's bedroom) but he refuses to use it. Ha!

It's already 2012 here - we had a big night of celebrations and there were fireworks which neither Teddy or I are very fond of. I hid under the bed and Teddy hid under the couch.

Today we are just recovering by hanging around outside.

It has just occurred to Teddy that it is Christmas this weekend and he has been so bad this year that he might not get any presents from Santa! I am laughing hard now.

While mum and dad moved house, I went to boot camp to stay with Uncle Andrew and Cosi the Enforcer. I stayed for a week and had so much fun. I only chewed up Uncle Andrew's new phone charger, so that's not bad for one week.

Huffle stayed with our grandparents and she had a good time too. Grandpa is home most of the time so there was always someone there to pat her and feed her ham. Huffle came home to the new house a few days before me. She said I ruined her good time when I got there. Ha.

Sorry about my posting this week - it has been crazy in our house as we are moving on Monday! So yesterday I was busy getting my last Thursday on the balcony time, and I had to growl at Teddy when he tried to go on my balcony too.

Somecat has been so naughty mum can hardly even type this as I dictate to her. On Saturday night, some cat known as the Bad BAD Kitten Boy was very very naughty. Some cat destroyed a pair of $300 headphones, AND chewed through the wire on the mouse attached to dad's computer. He also managed to short out the power supply on the computer at the same time and now dad's computer is dead. It has gone to computer hospital to see if it can be saved.

Some cat thinks it's perfectly okay and that he won't be sent to the pound.

He has no idea how much trouble he's in.

Well, I eat Hills Prescription Diet t/d food. The vet said I should eat that because otherwise I get bits of food stuck in my teeth and my breath gets all stinky. When I eat this, it helps clean my teeth and my breath smells all minty fresh.

Huffle said I could have a big party today because it is my birthday. I am ONE year old! I am officially a mancat, even though I have really been a mancat since the third day I arrived here.

Well, my name is Huffle Mawson after Hufflepuff from Harry Potter, and Mawson the Antarctic explorer, because I am an explorer cat.

Teddy Westlife is named after Teddy Westside from How I Met Your Mother. Mum got the name slightly wrong but everyone thinks Westlife is better anyway, because they were a boy band and Teddy is enough trouble for five boys.

The answer is no! I used to have stinky breath but now my dry foods are t/d which keeps my teeth nice and clean and my breaths smelling fresh. The vet checks my teeth every year and she said I have good teeth for an older kitty!

Greencheerios asked me this question: Huffle how come your toe nails are always so long in pictures? Are you not very nice when mum and dad try to trim them?

Um, no, I do not like my nails being trimmed. I don't like ANYONE to touch my back paws at all, and I'll only tolerate someone touching my front paws for a minute or two. Mum and dad have never bothered to trim my nails because I am a good girl and I don't scratch anything except my scratching post. Also, they said I could keep my nails when Teddy started jumping on me, so I can defend myself if I have to.

Mr Puddy asked me this question a little while back. what bring your pawrents to adopted you ? and When you first met your pawrents at the Cat Protection Society. Did you flirt them ? and How ? Me and Mom just love to know the love story when you met your pawrents : )

Well, it's kind of a long story. If you really want to know, keep reading.

When dad first met mum, nearly eight years ago, he had a cat (poo-face Salvador) and she had a dog (Maxine the rotti). Dad had just bought a new house and was talking about getting another cat to keep Salvador company. She decided that for Christmas 2005, she would get him a cat as a present. Now we all know that a cat (or dog) is not just for Christmas, but she was fairly certain that dad would look after a cat.

So on 28 December they went to visit the Cat Protection Society in Melbourne to find a brother or sister for Salvador. There was a nice grey kitty they saw first, but another family had already decided to adopt him. They kept looking and eventually narrowed it down to two kitties - me and another one who looked a bit like poo-face Salvador.

They went inside to ask the staff about our details - age, sex, temperament, etc. Dad forgot the number that was on the other kitty's tag so he went back out to check it, and that other cat bit him! Dad decided right there and then that I was the cat for him, because I was a nice quiet girl who didn't bite him. I just sat on the shelf in the shelter and looked sad. I was very sad, because I had been there for three months and no-one had even asked about adopting me. It's hard for black cats to get adopted sometimes; for some reason people are scared of black cats. But dad said I was a pretty girl and he would take me home.

I have been here ever since. Mum moved in with us in 2006, and we have been a happy family from that day.

I bet you didn't know that even though mum is the one who helps me with my blog, I am actually daddy's girl!

Power of the Paw needed

Unfortunately Kodiak did not survive his surgery - the specialist discovered that his C2 and C3 vertebrae had been fused together, probably from birth, and on Friday the disc ruptured so badly that there was no chance he would recover. His hu-dad made the difficult decision to let him go.

I am heartbroken.

You all know my friend Kodiak from the Thundering Herd, right? (If not, why not? Go over and say hi!) Well Kodiak and his housemates were on a camping holiday last week, and on Friday he suddenly collapsed as they were taking a walk. The vets at first suspected a stroke, but it could also be a spinal tumor, or an embolism. He is currently under 24 hour care at the vet.

Since the vets do not know exactly what is wrong with Kodiak, could you all please send your best purrs and good wishes to him? He needs to get better fast!

Sage and Fizz, who blog under the name Fage asked me this: We want to know if anything embarrassing has ever happened to you? Maybe a poo poo mishap, a scaredy cat mishap?

Well kitties, there was that time I landed in the paint stripper and had to have a bath, or the time I got stuck to the front door mat and had to have dad rescue me, but that's about it. I do occasionally like to poo in my carrier in protest when I have to go the v-e-t, and once I even pooed on the v-e-t's table, but that's not embarrassing for me.

Mum and dad call me the good cat for a good reason - I don't get into trouble and I am very well behaved.

Lizzie and her three kitties (who don't have a blog - please remind Lizzie that ALL kitties should have their own blog if they want) asked me this question. Can you tell us where you came from? Do you know your parents?

The short answer is no, I don't know where I came from and I don't remember my parents. I wound up at the Cat Protection Society when I was around five years old, and had been there for three months when mum and dad arrived to adopt me.

Mum and dad think I had a very bad start to life because I was terrified of everything when I first came home, and when a man wearing motorcycle boots came to the house I freaked out. I don't let anyone touch my belleh, even after nearly six years of being here, and they think I was starved before because I ate so much when I arrived that I made myself sick. My furs were all dry, and I wouldn't let anyone pick me up. Dad thinks maybe someone used to kick me in the belly before.

Now I have a wonderful family (except for Teddy the Goon) who let me do whatever I want to do and I am very happy!

I just remembered that there were some questions that I haven't answered yet! This one comes from the Katnip Lounge cats, and they wanted to know: Do you have any poisonous spiders or insects? We know you have a lot of nasty snakes there.

Well kitties, yes we do. Australia not only has nine of the ten most poisonous snakes in the world, but we have lots of other killer wildlife too. Dangerous spiders include the Red Back Spider and the Sydney Funnel Web Spider. Mum is not going to show you pictures of them because she is terrified and will scream even if she just sees a photo.

Don't forget we also have Great White Sharks and man-eating crocodiles.

You have to be tough to live in Australia.

So as you can see we did not post on the weekend. Mum says that until I let her take more photos of me she is cutting back my posting to the weekdays. Should I let her take more photos of me, do you think?

The Katnip Lounge Cats asked me: Do you sleep with your Beans? How about The Goon?

I used to sleep with mum and dad sometimes but since I got my toasty bed I spend most of my time in there. In winter I sometimes get under the doona on mum and dad's bed but not so often now that Teddy is here - I never know when he might jump on me.

The Goon sleeps in his little bed that mum bought for him on his second day here. It used to be in mum's wardrobe but he wouldn't sleep in there, so now it's in mum and dad's bedroom and Teddy sleeps in his bed every night. He has also been known to go up there and snooze during the day. Mum and dad sometimes keep the bedroom door closed at night so I can roam around the house without being jumped on.

Holly wanted to know: when is your birthday and what to you like to do to celebrate?

My birthday is a bit of a mystery, since mum and dad adopted me from the Cat Protection Society and they didn't know when my real birthday was. So mum and dad decided it would be on the day they adopted me, which is December 28. That is also my gotcha day, obviously, and it is my grandparent's wedding anniversary! It's a big day in our house.

I don't do that much to celebrate but I always get a snack of ham or prawns which is pretty good I think. Maybe this year, as a present to me, mum and dad could send Teddy away for the day. Does anyone want him?

The pupparrazzi around here think they're pretty good, but they still managed to cut my ears off in this photo!

I would like to thank everyone who contributed to my commentathon. I got lots of comments (although I didn't get anywhere near 1,000) and my parents are going to donate $100 to the RSPCA. Thank you to everyone who commented, and mentioned me on their blogs to encourage others to come and visit! My friend Bernadette from Tales of Tails also got 26 comments on her blog post about my commentathon so we are counting those in the total as well, which means we got 205 comments in total! That is pretty good, I think.

Mum says we have to take the rest of this week off because she is busy (hmpf), so I will be back next week! I still have more Ask Huffle questions to answer, so look out for them in the near future.

Also, I said I'd send a little present to the 100th commenter who was... Auntees! Please email me so I can find out a bit more about you.

Wow. 1,000 posts. I never thought I'd make it. I would like to thank every single one of my friends for helping me get here - without your questions and encouragement over the past few weeks (and years since I've been blogging) I never would have made it!

Well, I used to, but not so much any more. Basically since Teddy arrived, I find it safe to stay in my toasty bed where he doesn't jump on me. Before that, I used to sleep on the bed between mum and dad, and in winter I would sleep between them under the doona.

Teddy usually sleeps in his little bed which is in mum and dad's room, but before he goes to sleep he looks for toes to bite, and sometimes he sleeps right on the edge of the bed where he is close to toes. He is a goon.

NO! There is nothing good about Teddy. He is a bad kitten and a Naughty Cat.

Actually there is one good thing about Teddy. He does not understand the Red Dot game so he just sits there confused when I play. So that's good.

Prancer Pie asked me this question: As the cat with the most seniority, Miss Huffle, what is your most important job in the household?

That is a very good question. I have several jobs in the house. One of them is to make sure dad realises it's dinner time when he comes home from work, no matter what time it is. So I greet him at the door every day and remind him.

It is also my job to quality test all the ham that gets brought into the house. Same with the prawns. Here's a photo of me doing quality control on prawns.

And most importantly, it is my job to make sure all the places a cat could sleep are appropriate for a cat to sleep in. Mostly this involves me sleeping in my toasty bed, or on mum and dad's bed, or on the spare bed, or anywhere else that takes my fancy.

Madi asked me: How did you get the name Huffle Mawson? We are sure there must be a good story to go with your name.

I have explained my name before but I will happily do it again for newer readers. When I first got here, five and a half years ago, mum and dad called me Stella. But after a few days, they noticed that I would huff at things as I was wandering around. So they started calling me Hufflepuff (like in Harry Potter). Then, because I like to explore new places, they added Mawson after the famous Antarctic explorer Douglas Mawson. So my new full name was Huffle Mawson and I always answer to Huffle. I don't answer to Stella.
